Fr Topham’s Ordination to the Priesthood

June 25, 2018 by Father Morris

What an amazing evening as Bishop Jonathan came to ordain Fr Topham as a priest. He’s been with us for a year as a deacon and is now able to celebrate Mass and declare God’s forgiveness of sins. It was a joy to welcome to St Mary’s the clergy and people of St Benet Kentish Town as their curate, Fr Nigel Palmer, was also ordinand priest. Priests are ordained to be “servants and shepherds among the people to whom they are sent,” as the Ordinal puts it. Bishop Jonathan exhorted the new priests to “remember always with thanksgiving that the treasure now to be entrusted to you is Christ’s own flock, bought by the shedding of His Blood.” The Mass was followed by a great party in the Kemble Hall and Vicarage Garden with tons of food and drink. With thanks to Mike Still for the photographs.

Fr Topham and Fr Palmer cut the cake.

Underneath all those priests is Fr Topham, being ordained by the laying on of hands.

Remembrance Sunday Masses

November 7, 2017 by Office

We gather on Sunday 12th November at 10am and 5pm to pray for those who have died during wars. We’ll be singing our favourite Remembrance hymns and at the end of Mass, we’ll observe two minutes’ silence.

Poppy crosses

10am at S Mary’s Lansdowne Road

All are welcome to come with the congregation and Boys’ Brigade. To throw into the mix, we also celebrate Ezekiel’s baptism. Mass will last no more than an hour and twenty minutes. Tea, filter coffee and biscuits are served afterwards.

5pm at Good Shepherd Mitchley Road

In the smaller and cosier setting of the Good Shepherd, we gather to sing hymns and break open the word of God. A sermon will be preached by Fr Morris . There’ll be activities for the children so they can engage with the themes of Remembrance, around sacrifice and how Christ speaks peace into the troubled world. Ideal if you’ve got up late because you’ve been watching the Festival of Remembrance the night before!

Come along! Other Mass times can be found here.
